WordPress?!
It’s been about five years since we started running our servers with WordPress. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about it, kept upgrading the service, and tried to make the most of what WordPress and PHP had to offer. But now, I think it’s time to move on. We’re preparing to shift everything to a serverless platform.
So, what is serverless anyway?
Serverless means you can access content as if you’re online, even when you’re technically offline. A good example is the site I’m currently working on: https://offline.observer. Is it serverless right now? No, not anymore. It used to be, but we had to roll it back because of some technical issues.
But this time, I believe the transition will go smoothly. I’m planning to move not only that site, but all the other services I’m running to a serverless environment. That includes videos, images, audio files, sheet music, and full sound assets. Everything will be easier to share and access.
What makes serverless exciting is how fast it is. Even when you’re on your phone with no Wi-Fi, you can still open it up and get what you need. That’s kind of amazing. Big companies probably won’t bother with this kind of setup because they’re chasing larger market trends, but we’re not waiting around. We’re going first.
So yeah, see you soon—on serverless.
Thanks for sticking around.
